Every journey starts with a spark. Mine was a gentle soul named Samwise—my first guinea pig and dearest companion, who really changed how I saw the world. Sam taught me about patience, trust, and the quiet magic of a tiny creature so full of love.
Even though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in everything I do with my piggies. This cookbook began with him.
Since Sam passed away, I’ve welcomed three spirited girls into my life! Rosie, who is going on four years old, is a silky-haired diva. I found her in a bonded pair with Lyra, my three-year-old gentle Peruvian beauty. Pippa, the baby of our little herd (she is nearly three years old) is a fiery little Abyssinian with loads of attitude. Each of them has her own personality—quirky, cuddly, and always inspiring.
I love baking and cooking healthy, beautiful food, and wanted to do the same for my pets! A couple of years ago, I decided to start researching more healthy foods so that I could start writing a cookbook for small pets. I wanted to share healthy, fun, beautiful recipes - not only with piggies around the world, but also with rabbits and other small pets! Before long, my piggies were taste-testing countless salads, desserts (safe for small pets, of course!) and many other dishes. Some of the ingredients I used, other than many basic veggies, were oats -in moderation- along with many fruits and other yummy pet-friendly ingredients!
And now, after months of planning and hours of taste-testing, editing, and photographing, I proudly present The Ultimate Small Pet Cookbook- full of colorful, pet-friendly recipes along with many step-by-step photos! I hope that any people who read my cookbook feel the same happiness I do when I make a snack that is both good for my piggies and a treat for their eyes! (Though I don’t think our pets really care about how their food looks...they will just devour it!)
And my girls? They are my muses and models. They have no clue how special they are or that they are now published into a cookbook! The inspiration that I found though them—along with their preferences—shaped every page.
